Contract research is a type of research conducted on behalf of another organisation at a fee. Analysis and interpretation of the findings is mostly done by the client. A contract (agreement) is developed by the client and signed by both parties for the management of the trials and data collection. The trials conducted under contract at GART are for seed and agro-chemical companies. Supplementary irrigation is provided during drought spells of more than five(5) days.
The regular Seed companies that contract GART to conduct seed variety evaluation trials are Maize Research Institute (MRI), Zamseed, Seedco and Pannar.
Agro chemical companies.
The regular Agro chemical companies that engage GART to evaluate various agro chemical products include BASF, Omnia and Agri focus. The new technologies being tested are herbicides, pest and disease control and fertilizers.
